1935 SSII Tourer

1935 SSII Tourer

Kaye bought the SSII Tourer nearly 20 years ago. It is a 1935 SS with a Standard 12 four-cylinder engine. Three months after this car was produced, William Lyons introduced the first Jaguar model but was still called an SS Jaguar.

She kept the car in Florida during the 80's, then took it back to Europe for 5 years. During those five years she toured England, France and Monte Carlo enjoying every moment. She then returned the car to Florida in 1996. She always maintained the car and is now having engine work done to prepare for next season. Her last show this season was the British Invasion held in Stowe Vermont on Sept 15, 16. There she received a first place and loved every minute of it as evidenced in the photos. Of course, I do all the work and she gets the accolades.

I own a 1973 Bentley Corniche Coupe, one of only 17 built. The car was ordered by an Italian gentleman and spent all its years in Italy until I purchased the car this year. It is immaculate! I drove it from Florida to Stowe Vermont for the British Invasion, then headed south to Hershey, Nashville and Memphis before arriving back in Florida. We covered over 4000 miles with a murmur!

I entered the car in the concours at the British Invasion and was pleasantly surprised to find we took second place! I must say the car received a lot of attention and driving the length of the eastern USA we were made welcome everywhere we went. The best line we heard was when one desk clerk looked out the window at the car and said,"is that a Jaguar?"
