I am looking for some advice regarding the secondary tensioners. I have a 1998 XJ8 with 27,000 miles. I have been doing the research with regards to the tensioners failing. I am looking into either replacing the tensioners as preventative maintenance or just purchasing and extended warranty to cover any repairs.
My question is, if I have the tensioners replaced, are the newer parts still subject to the same failure rate? Thus they would need replacing every 50,000 miles? Also it I were to seek an extended warranty, can anyone recommend a company that stands behind the coverage they issue. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

The replacement Tensioners have been redesigned, if you have the kit installed you should be fine.
